Inflammatory heart disease is a condition in which the heart muscles are inflamed by any disease condition or microbial infection or any tumors or cancer etc. The occurrence of infection is usually associated with presence of rheumatic fever and Kawasaki disease. The three main types of inflammatory heart disease include Myocarditis, Pericarditis or Endocarditis.

Myocarditis

When the heart muscle is inflamed the condition is called as Myocarditis. Certain virus infections like sarcoidosis and some distinct diseases lead to the inflammation of heart muscles. Myocarditis will plague the heart muscles once the infection has ceased.

Pericarditis

The inflammation of the pericardium is termed as Pericarditis. Endocarditis

When the inner lining of the heart or endocardium is infected it is termed as Endocarditis. The pathogen enters the body through blood and circulates and affects the heart. If it is not treated rapidly it completely causes valve damage and leads to life threatening condition. The treatment involves prescribing antibiotics in mild cases and surgery where damage is significantly compromising.
